A CAMPING WE WILL GO.
In March, we went camping near Lawton, Oklahoma at the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Austin June stayed with my sister, and we slept under the stars. It was short, but fresh air, a few good hikes, and a little time on the road with stereo turned up was just what we needed.

DIY WOODEN SPOOL DRAWER PULLS
Adding colorful hardware is an easy way to add some character or a little bit of your own personality to a piece of furniture, to spice up something plain, or to tie in to your existing decor and color pallet. There are lot great options (Restoration hardware, Anthropologie, UO, Hobby Lobby and World Market - all have a pretty good selection and great sales). But what about something custom, a little more personal? I will teach you how to make your own custom drawer pulls.

GO OUTSIDE.
One of my [many] resolutions this year is to spend more time outdoors. It does not have to be far away, up high, or by the sea - just outside.
The Trinity River Audubon Center is actually a reclaimed and fully restored landfill in southeastern Dallas (part of the Great Trinity Forest). The project reclaimed 120 acres of the Great Trinity River Corridor. The landfill site had 1.5 million tons of illegally dumped construction debris over a 15 year period, and was restored to blackland prairie hills, grasses and ponds. This now infamous photo was taken at the TRAC only a few years ago. Pretty amazing, huh?

DIY: HANDMADE CAMERA
She loves to imitate us, she is enamored with all things technology (translation: buttons!) and we love to hike and go on long walks and take lots of pretty pictures. So I thought a camera of her very own would be the perfect gift! She would need something simple, easy to use and durable…oh yeah, and she is 15 months old.

We took family photos, diy style (tripod + remote). It was a fun + crazy. Here's the finished product:

FOLDING CHAIR REDO
We are in full swing of the holidays, and with Thanksgiving behind us, many of us may be gearing up again (if we are lucky) for a house full of folks for Christmas as well. And if you had a few extra bodies on Turkey day you may have found yourself lacking the extra seating for said bodies. So, I've put together a quick folding chair DIY to show you how a drab thrifted or curbside folding chair find can be turned into great extra seating that isn't a blight on your beautiful holiday table. Inspired by my friend Beth's recent how-to and my last post on neutrals - I decided to tackle a cool vintage Samonsite folding chair I'd been eying at my favorite thrift store.

GRAY + WHITE + WOOD
I have the pleasure of writing guest posts for Dwell with Dignity, a really great Dallas area non-profit made up of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. Check out this DIY, and visit there site to learn more about how you can get involved.
When it comes to gray, I think it is fair to say I’m having a love affair. Who isn't? People even made up a new word - greige - to refer to their favorite warm, pale shade. There are many different neutral pairings that work reallywell together, but my favorite is a combination of gray + white + wood. It can be warm and inviting, or bold and contrasting – there is a wide range of options with this simple palette.

[DIY] SIMPLE + EASY CHEVRON VASE
After reading this post, I began looking around my home and realized that despite how much I adore chevron, there was not a stitch of this terrific pattern to be found in our house! Being in full DIY mode around here (we purchased our first home last year, a definite fixer-upper) - I began brainstorming quick ways to incorporate some graphic patterns into simple and easy decor projects (simple and easy are my new thing since I became a mommy last year as well!) This spray-on chevron DIY can be applied to many other items (think canvas or scrap wood, bottles, rugs, smooth vases, doors and doormats to name a few).
